Several countries around the Indian Ocean have been hit by devastating tsunami that left hundreds of thousands dead, injured and missing in the coastal areas across south-eastern Asia.
Islamic Aid responded to the situation in close partnership with the local communities in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Maldives. Our partner organisations were helping the survivors immediately after the disaster, and are providing them with food, water, temporary shelter and medical care.
“The situation is very desperate, with so many people affected in so many countries; relief workers on the ground need our massive support in order to provide emergency relief and ensure rehabilitation of the survivors,” said Mahmood Hassan, Chairman of Islamic Aid.
